Just 4 Grins recycled art in Fincastle, Virginia is an attempt to produce a smile with a wide variety of expressions. Recycling used hardware, parts, building materials and fasteners, we create unique creations of all sorts. The artist, Bill Austin, moved to Southwest Virginia from the New Jersey shore in the late 70's and has worked as a general contractor building numerous custom homes throughout the area over the last 40 years. Now retired, he creates unique folk art assembling unique characters using leftover parts, pieces, hardware, wire and a little bit of everything. No two are the same and some are requested portraits. Bill has also created wood sculptures using burls and odd twisted branches and stumps. Please take some time and look at our gallery of creations.
Bill's art takes on several different forms from pots, pans and lids to saw blades, corks, discarded baskets and just about anything. Recycling all types of used throwaways creates more room in our landfills and gives items a second life to become part of our local culture. The current art scene in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia and the local areas including the Roanoke Valley, Botetourt County, Salem and Floyd has grown over the last few years to include all types of new artist's and styles. We hope you will take some time to visit many of our local galleries and artists.
